For a year we will attempt to collect a photo a day of Chichester Harbour. Please help us by submitting your photo to email@example.com and do keep checking back to see how we are doing!
This photo was taken, unaided, by my 8 year old grandson, Harry. The swan is nesting between the Canal and the road near to the Chichester Yacht Club. The date is 1st April 2012. We didn't ask her permission but she didn't seem to mind.
Looking south-east, A race from Bosham runs out of wind off Chidham. Eventually a little breeze filled in to allow the sailors home for a late lunch.
Terror is a vintage working boat from the oyster fleet that sailed from Emsworth in Victorian times. She is now used in the summer months for pleasure trips. Here she is undergoing routine maintenance on the hard at Itchenor. Working on her are staff from the Conservancy.
Shore Road, Bosham.
An early Sunday morning walk around the harbour, reminded me how lucky I am to live in Bosham!
The wetlands approaching Thorney Island make attractive viewing even though the Brent Geese have gone to Siberia for the summer.
A Cormorant caught fishing in Birdham Pool
Weather been just nigh on perfect for me, loads of dramatic skies. Took these 2 pics a few minutes apart one looking direct at church, and other facing further east up channel, thought I was going to get wet, but just a few drops , and it all passed to north, heading east.Friday 20th April 2012, thought there might be a glimpse of sun before it set, no chance, loved the dramatics though!!!
Sunbeam V24 Fay is the green boat on the left, on the right is Harmony V11. Both boats were being launched after a year in the boatyard.
Taken near the car park at West Wittering, a gorgeous evening with stunning views back to the downs.
We were hosting an event on the Geology of Old Langstone. Here John Fryer of Havant and Felicity Coutts of Langstone reminisce on the price of the toll for bikes on the old wooden Langstone Bridge in the 1950s (1/2 d pre 1956 and 1d after the new bridge was opened).
Collective Spirit the boat built for the Cultural Olympiad by Lone Twin visited Dell Quay for a private viewing for the Friends of Chichester Harbour. Around 100 Friends attended and also enjoyed a talk by Gary Whelan, one of the artists.
Love the panoramic shot - makes me want to go on holiday again! :-)
yeeeaaa my picture :)
Fabulous shot, I had intended to be almost at this spot, but because weather in afternoon was wet, decided not to, wish I had now, a real keeper this one. I did manage to photograph this very same rainbow, but over the lakes on Chi by pass(as far as I could get before it disappeared). Green with envy, Jake.
Stunning and dramatic, well done for capturing it so well.
I really want to walk through here, the photo is drawing me in, wonderful!
This is such a lovely picture, the insect is so delicate.
