Answers

1b) It is a Roman flue tile, used to carry hot air up the walls. It is textured with a comb to help plaster stick to it.
2c) It is an imbrex roof tile, used over flat tiles to cover the gaps between them.
3a) Experts think this tiny lead axe was used as an offering to the gods, perhaps as a request for divine help, but we don't know for sure. What do you think?

4 It shows the ear of an ormous Roman statue found at Bosham.
5 It shows the pointed base of an amphora, a large Roman storage jar.
6 This is a ballista bolt, which would have had a wooden shaft attached and been fired from a large crossbow by Roman soldiers.

7 The water pipe is Roman, about 1930 years old.
8 These floor tiles are Medieval, about 650 years old.
9 The scraper is Palaeolithic (Old Stone Age) it could be up to 450,000 years old.
