Palm Oil Pollution

A pollution report from the coastguard agency has confirmed that there have been several reports of potentially harmful substances being washed up along the south coast over the last couple of weeks. Specific sightings have recently been reported along the coast in Arun's district including Bognor Regis, Worthing and Littlehampton.

The current pollution is thought to be Palm Oil which has reportedly been harmful to dogs if ingested. Members of the public are advised to keep dogs away and on leads, and to take care when walking along beaches and shorelines.

Please report any suspected sightings of Palm Oil within Chichester Harbour on 01243 512301 or email info@conservancy.co.uk. To report any general sightings of Palm Oil please contact Chichester District Council on 01243 785166, or visit the Marine Emergencies page for more information.
