Everyone loves a cake!

Chichester Harbour is celebrating 50 years since being designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and staff at the Conservancy invited Birdham Primary School to share their specially designed cake with them.  The Year 1’s of Red Class enjoyed a trip, funded by the Friends of Chichester Harbour’s Get Afloat scheme, aboard the solar powered boat, Solar Heritage.  The children then shared the cake whilst sailing to Dell Quay and being introduced to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from the water.  Lesley Austin, the mother of the AONB Manager, Richard Austin, designed and make the special cake which was decorated with scenes from around the Harbour.

Siún Cranny, Director of the Conservancy said “It’s fantastic when children get the chance to appreciate our very special landscape and outdoor learning is so important.  They are the Harbour Masters, Rangers and Countryside Managers of the future and we should do everything we can to maintain their enthusiasm for our coastal environment.”
