Art & Photography
Artists in all mediums are inspired by Chichester Harbour. Throughout the year we run a series of workshops under the banner of Earth, Air and Water. These culminate in an annual exhibition.
Photographers can join in our current A Year of Photos Project. We aim to collect a photo each day for 12 months. To receive details each year please sign up for the Activities eNewsletter.
Earth, Air and Water

Earth, Air and Water is an annual open art event for 2 and 3 dimensional works in artistic media within the fields of painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media and photography. It is open to all artists; professional, student and amateur.
The entries will undergo a selection process by members of Chichester Harbour Conservancy prior to being exhibited in the gallery at The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre at Havant. The criteria for selection will be to choose a fair and representative mixture on the basis of quality and variety. The aim will be to display as much work as space permits.

Judges Comments from 2011: This year we had an exceptionally strong field of photographs. We were impressed by the amount of submissions that showed all weather conditions and times of the day, it really is worth going early or late to get a different view of a traditional scene. We believe that the winning and shortlisted photos work well together as a set showing the variety that can be found at Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Judges Tip: We would urge people to crop their photos to make a stronger image. Play about with the photo to see how it can be improved by good use of the crop tool.
Sponsors: The competition is generously sponsored by the Friends of Chichester Harbour and supported by Chichester Observer and Whitbys Imaging Centre.
A Year of Photos of Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
From the 1 April 2012 - 31 March 2013 we are aiming to collect a photo every day of Chichester Harbour. At the end of the twelve months we will have a fine photographic record of the AONB, covering all aspects of the landscape, wildlife, recreation and more.
To take part, simply take a photo of any aspect of the AONB. It can be on the land, on the water, boats, farmland, habitats, buildings, wildlife, people or even life under the water, anything that you think represents Chichester Harbour.
Submit your photos by email. Up to three photos for each day will be displayed on www.conservancy.co.uk. Don’t worry if you can’t submit it the day it was taken, just send it in anytime before the 30 April 2013 and we will add it into the project. When submitting your photo, include your details, where and when it was taken and a short caption of why the photo is special to you. Full terms and conditions.
