Patrol to the Rescue
The Harbour Patrol were recently called upon to come to the rescue of a very special, miniature fleet of boats.
Up at the Harbour Education Centre, eleven families had been busily making their own model boats. Guided by local model maker, Simon Cowper the families spent a pleasant afternoon hammering and gluing together their own creations. After a couple of hours of frenzied activity the moment of truth came. The mini-ships were handed over to the Harbour Patrol in their RIB who took them upwind. The boats were then carefully launched and made their own way back towards Dell Quay where they were recovered. ‘They all floated really well!', said a surprised Phil one of our Patrol Officers.
The model workshop was held as part of the Conservancy's year round programme of Guided Walks and Activities. To find out more about upcoming events sign up for our eNewsletter.
