Work Experience

The Conservancy is able to take a limited number of school pupils on work experience placements. The emphasis is on education and nature conservation work.

Interested pupils need to be happy to work both in an office and outdoors and have appropriate outdoor gear for wet and muddy conditions. They may be expected to join in with guided walks of some distance and carry out reasonable practical tasks such as weeding. They will require family support with transport due to the rural nature of the work and location of the Harbour Office.

Due to health and safety at work regulations not all tasks are available to work experience students. As the Conservancy's work is connected to the sea all placements will include at least one session afloat and for this a letter of consent will be required from the successful applicants' parents. Preference will be given to pupils attending local schools and/or with their main residence in the Harbour area.

The Conservancy can offer a maximum of one week's work equivalent to 5 working days. The period of work is likely to include the weekends either side of the working week with equivalent time off during the week. Four one-week placements are offered each year, two in the summer season and two either side of the summer.

Please complete the Work Experience Application Form and post or it to the Harbour Office.
