December 2011

Well hello again to all my readers.

The winter is fast approaching and it's almost as if it's going to jump out at us any moment unexpectedly. I am not looking forward to the cold weather; however I think that the flora around the AONB really needs the stage of dormancy to recoup from what seems to be a very long autumn. I think that most of us could do with a bit of a rest from the very busy month that we have had, what with coppicing, digging, cleaning and for some of you Christmas shopping too.

Keith and I had a fantastic day in Salterns Copse, at the Christmas event with the Friends team who cleared a vast area of bramble within the woods. We had a very large turnout of volunteers, who also managed to clear the area of mulled wine and mince pies! We would like to say a big thank you to those of you who came to the event and helped to eat all these treats, which saved my waistline for just a little bit longer.

The clean up task at Eames farm was a big success and we had a very high number of the Friends team turn up on the day. There were quite a few who helped Keith build a post and rail fence around our organic waste storage area at the back of the farm. We also managed to clear the large parking area too which is an arduous task. I would like to say a big thank you to all of you who attended this event.

I will be getting ready to slow things down to a very gentle pace, as Christmas draws nearer. Eventually Keith and I will be shutting things down and it seems a bit strange that in a few weeks time we will be celebrating New Year and then the dawn of Spring will be just around the corner.

So, on this happy note I would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a very prosperous new year, try to eat and drink your fill and enjoy yourselves, I know I will.

I look forward to seeing you all whilst I'm out and about.

Merry Christmas

Georgie
