Do you love the outdoors and want to play a part in protecting one of the South Coast’s most beautiful landscapes?
We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join Chichester Harbour Conservancy as an Apprentice Ranger.
This is a hands-on role, offering the chance to develop practical countryside management skills while working towards a Level 2 Countryside Worker qualification.
You’ll be part of a small, friendly team who care for Chichester Harbour National Landscape—a protected landscape, nationally important for it’s habitats and wildlife and enjoyed by both local communities and visitors.
What you’ll be doing:
During your apprenticeship, you’ll gain wide-ranging experience across all aspects of Ranger work, including:
- Carrying out practical habitat management and improving public access (e.g. footpaths, gates, and signage)
- Supporting wildlife and conservation surveys, including some water-based activities
- Helping to coordinate and lead volunteer work parties
- Looking after tools, vehicles, and equipment
- Attending training sessions and college block release at Sparsholt College
- Participating in team meetings, on-site projects, and occasional community events
- You’ll also work alongside professionals in conservation, ecology, education, and engagement, gaining valuable insight into the wider work of a National Landscape team.
About You:
Do you have a strong interest in nature, conservation, and a passion for the outdoors? Are you keen to learn, reliable, and self motivated? Can you work well in a small team or independently? Do you enjoy speaking to members of the public and are you happy to socialise and work with our volunteers? If so, this could be the role for you.
