Notice of Prohibited Anchorage Area within Chichester Channel
- Mariners are advised that a Prohibited Anchorage Area will take effect within the Chichester Channel to support a native oyster restoration project from Monday 27 April 2026.
2. The Prohibited Anchorage Area is temporarily marked along its northern edge by unlit orange marker buoys in the following positions:
Lat: 50°48’25.83″N Long: 0°53’31.43″W
Lat: 50°48’30.63″N Long: 0°53’24.92″W
Lat: 50°48’34.05″N Long: 0°53’14.76″W
Lat: 50°48’35.73″N Long: 0°53’6.83″W
3. No anchoring is permitted in the area between the marker buoys and Chalkdock Starboard Marker as shown below:
4. The oyster restoration project within Chichester Harbour is part of the Solent Seascape Project. Further information about the project can be found at www.conservancy.co.uk/nature-recovery/oyster-reef/
5. This LNTM will be updated when permanent marker buoys are in position.
