Obstruction and Reduced Air Draft on Langstone Bridge

  1. Mariners are advised that electrical cables normally attached to the underside of the Langstone Bridge, also known as the Hayling Road Bridge have been damaged and are now hanging from the structure into the water resulting in one of the spans on the north end of the Bridge to be impassable to vessel traffic
  2. The impassable span is in approximate position: 50o 50´.063N, 000o 58´.706W
  3. The rest of the cabling that is still attached to the bridge is poorly maintained and is hanging down in several places resulting in a possible reduction in air draft for vessels navigating under the bridge.
  4. This reduction in air draft includes within the centre spans marked for navigation.
  5. Vessels navigating the area should do so with caution.
  6. For further information on the status of the repair please contact Hampshire County Council Highways who are responsible for the bridge.
