Do you have great customer service and administrative skills, with a good grasp of Chichester Harbour’s navigation and maritime regulations?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Harbour Support Officer to take on a varied role, providing administrative and customer service support as a key member of our harbour and reception teams.
About the role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the allocation of jetty berths, ensuring smooth and effective management of harbour space based at our Itchenor harbour office.
- Providing maritime knowledge and support to the reception team, helping visitors and harbour users with queries and guidance.
- Handling face-to-face and telephone enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Provide administrative support for the team, including issuing harbour dues plaques, management of the Safety Management System, risk assessments, Port Marine Safety Code compliance, mooring management, vessel licensing, and handling building maintenance requests.
About You
You will have:

- Good knowledge of Chichester Harbour, including local maritime regulations and navigation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional telephone manner.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach, demonstrating the ability to use initiative and adapt to changing priorities.

Chichester Harbour National Landscape is a unique organisation that is the only Statutory Harbour Authority with responsibility for a National Landscape. It is both one of the busiest recreational harbours in Europe and one of the most important sites for wildlife in the UK. The harbour is home to more than 10,000 vessels, over 3,000 moorings, six marinas and 14 Sailing club and a popular location for many water sports from rowing, canoeing and paddleboarding to wing foiling.
