We are seeking a skilled Leases and Licences Officer to take responsibility for managing Chichester Harbour Conservancy’s Leases and Licences Portfolio.
About the Role
The role will oversee a range of land and marine leases, licences and land use agreements, ensuring that all arrangements are properly maintained, compliant and aligned with organisational policies and governance requirements.
You will lead on negotiations, renewals and reviews of leases and licences, ensuring agreements remain effective, represent best value and are delivered within agreed timeframes. The role requires close collaboration with tenants, professional advisers and internal stakeholders to support the effective management and strategic use of the estate.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced property professional with strong negotiation and organisational skills to play a key role in the stewardship of a diverse property portfolio.
The role offers a flexible working pattern and home-based working, with regular visits to the Harbour Office, Itchenor, and other sites around Chichester Harbour as required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage leases, licences, and land use agreements portfolio.
• Lead the negotiation, drafting and management of leases, licences, and related property agreements.
• Ensure agreements comply with organisational policies and legal requirements.
• Maintain accurate property records
• Draft Heads of Terms and prepare reports for governance groups and the Board.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants, landlords, agents and external advisors.
About You
You will have proven experience in estate or property management and a strong understanding of lease and licence processes and property law. You are confident in interpreting and drafting lease clauses and renewal terms and have excellent attention to detail, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. You work well with stakeholders at all levels and can manage a varied portfolio efficiently and professionally.
