Help shape the future of navigation in Chichester Harbour

Aerial View of Chichester Harbour Vessels

Chichester Harbour Conservancy is carrying out its statutory five‑yearly review of navigation. This is a chance to look carefully at how the harbour is used today, how it is changing, and what will be needed to keep everyone safe over the next decade.

We want this review to be guided by the people who know the harbour best: you.

Your answers will help us develop a new set of General Directions, the modern navigation rules that will replace the harbour’s ageing byelaws. General Directions set out how vessels should navigate, where certain activities take place, how speed and wash are managed, and the safety expectations for all harbour users. They are legally enforceable, but they only work well when shaped by real experience on the water.

This survey is your opportunity to influence that thinking before anything is drafted. It takes around 15 minutes to complete. Most questions are quick tick‑boxes, and all are optional. You can answer only the sections relevant to you.
